Many Pittsburghers will recall the amazing efforts of Pittsburgh parmedics, firemen and doctors who saved the life of ironworker Ralph Winner. Ralph's leg was amutated 200 feet above the river, in the rain, when an accident pinned him under 250 tons of pressure.  While being fed morphine through an IV, he used an acetylene "torch" to burn away part of the iron to loosen one leg, before the other was amputated. This painting honors all who participated in saving the ironworker's life that day. The main composition is based on the "grainy" film that was taken then and a few blurry newspaper photos.  Large giclee prints on canvas are available, as well as smaller sizes on fine art paper.  Contact the artist.
